All aboard! Manitoba hosts its very own restored steam engine that takes passengers on a journey through the Interlake to Grosse Isle.

If you ever travel Highway 6, you can’t mistake the sight or sound of the Prairie Dog train chugging along the railway tracks. It runs from just outside Winnipeg at the Inkster Junction Station to Grosse Isle where you are greeted with special events, displays, lunch and vendors, as well as a play structure for kids.

The rides usually depart at 11am with a 90 minutes stopover in Grosse Isle before returning to Inkster station for 2:45pm. Kids are thrilled to riding a real train

The train runs weekends from late spring until late fall with special events for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and occasions like Halloween. They also have special theme events like the ‘great train robbery’ where riders need to be on the alert for old-time robbers on horseback who might approach the train!
