Being able to get out of the house with your new baby (or babies) is so great.

It’s even better when it’s a baby-proofed space with other people who are in the same boat as you. Winnipeg has a great array of drop-in playgroups happening on various days of the week. Here is a list of free or low-cost drop-in playgroups available in Winnipeg with links to more information (click on the playgroup title). If you know of more groups, please email us and let us know. Healthy Start for Mom & Me: 

A program for new moms that provides support and education to help mom and baby thrive. Various days/locations.

Nest Family Centre: 

FREE all-ages playgroups on  Thursdays from 11:30am – 12:30pm. For July and August there are summer playgroups on Fridays and Mondays as well from 10am-12pm. 667 Stafford St.

Waverley Church Kid Spot: 

Kids Spot Play Centre is a drop-in indoor play place for preschool children ages 0-5. A small fee for children over 1. Tuesday to Friday – 2171 Waverley St.

Healthy Families :

Healthy Families is a drop-in group for pregnant people and parents of children up to 2 years old. 10:00-11:30 am. Wednesdays – 603 St. Mary’s Road (Birth Centre).

Tot Time St. Vital EMC:

Tot’s Time is a free drop-in for kids ages 0-5 and their caregivers. 9:30 – 11:30 am. Wednesdays – 2005 St. Mary’s Rd. (I’ve tried to confirm if this is still running but have not received a response. Feel free to call them to confirm.)

Rady JCC Family Fun Zone: 

Come out and join other families for a fun morning featuring inflatable bouncers and other toddler-friendly activities. Sundays 10:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Free for Members – $5 per family for Non-Members

Q-Munity: LGBT2SQ* Families Together:

Q-MUNITY is a monthly group for LGBT2SQ* identified parents/caregivers and their children 0-5 years old. 9:30 – 11:30 am. 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.
Birth Centre (603 St Mary’s Rd)

Earl Grey CC Ride and Play:

Indoor play includes a play area for infants, riding toys, craft, puzzles, tools, giant building blocks, and a bouncy house. $3/child (infants under 6 months free with sibling) T/W/T – 360 Cockburn St.

KidBridge: 

KidBridge is a weekly English language conversation/play group for mothers new to Canada and their children ages 0-5. Tuesdays – 510 King Street – 9:30-11:30am, Wednesdays – 400 Hargrave – Room 130 – 9:30-11:30am.

Winnipeg Dads: 

This group used to have play dates and outings but may need more volunteers and interest to continue. Feel free to contact them.

Stay n Play at the North End Women’s Centre

A group for 0-6 and open to all mothers/caregivers.1:30-3:30 pm. Tuesday – 394 Selkirk Ave.

Winnipeg Public Library:

Baby Rhyme Time & Family Story Time: Look for drop in times and locations in the back sections of the Winnipeg Public Library newsletter or they have some event listings here on their website. Various days/locations.

Louis Riel School Division Family Centres:

 LRSD family centres are a free community place for parents and families to play, learn and grow together. A variety of programs are offered throughout the year and focus on supporting families with preschool children.

Seven Oaks School Division Infant, Toddler & Preschool Programs: 

We offer Free Parent-Child programs for parents/caregivers and children, birth to age 5 in 16 schools

Norwood Community Centre

Runs a playgroup with drop in or membership fees. Wednesdays 9:15-11:15am during the school year. Click the link for current information.

Fort Garry United Church:

Childminding while parents take a break in nearby room/chat with other parents. First session free – additional sessions $5. Fridays 9:30-11:30am. Click the link to confirm future dates.

Champlain Community Centre

Mondays 9:30 – 12 pm – $3 fee. Runs during the school year. Crafts, toys and activities for pre-schoolers, toddlers and babies.
